ALPHA WIRE COMPANY MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIES

Alpha Wire is dedicated to providing our customers with premium products and service. A key component to this commitment is our world class manufacturing capability. Alpha has embarked on a major capital investment program in its Leominster, MA manufacturing facility that ensures every product made by Alpha lives up to our dedication to quality, fit for use, delivery and service. This two-year initiative will result in a transformation that includes every major manufacturing component in the facility. From primary extrusion, cabling twisting, shielding and jacketing, to process and shop floor control. Alpha Wire has redesigned its manufacturing capabilities to provide existing products more efficiently and to better prepare for future developments in our industry.

Primary Extrusion
Jacketing
Alpha Wire's primary insulation processes provide a broad range of capabilities in the extrusion of Thermoplastic materials over primary conductors. Primary core sizes from 4/0 through 30 AWG are produced utilizing state of the art Digital process control technology. Insulation options include standard single pass polyester, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene and a wide range of Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPE). Dual extrusion processing of constructions utilizing PVC/nylon or applicable materials is also available. As with primary extrusion, Alpha Wire can claim the latest in finished jacketing extrusion technology. Construction diameters from less than 0.100" up to 1.5" are manufactured utilizing state of the art Digital control technology. The latest raw material handling, drying and colorization equipment are used to reduce set up time and enhance product quality. Digital loop control ensures process specifications are met with 100% accuracy and repeatability. All Thermoplastic-jacketing compounds can be extruded per UL, (C) UL and CSA standards.
Cabling Equipment and Shop Floor Control

Alpha Wire's cabling capability is state of the art. From the latest in planetary cabling technology to the most current neutralization payoff and take up techniques, Alpha has the processing capability to build the most complex constructions.

Alpha Wire's employs the Belden Automated Equipment Process Control (AEPC) standard on all extruders in its manufacturing facility. The AEPC version 3.0 controller is a scalable system that can monitor multiple I/O locations. Process parameters ranging from barrel and screw temperature through finished cable outside diameter are measured continuously. This data is Digitally linked and statistical process control (SPC) techniques are employed to match the data with the individual process order. Quality control traceability is thus ensured at all steps in the process, for all products.

The Alpha Information Management System (AIMS) employs the BPCS shop floor control module for the process planning, production scheduling and shop floor tracking. From the moment an order is placed, either directly or through the company wide MRP system, Alpha's materials management and manufacturing systems are employed to ensure the product is produced on time, according to specification and with the highest quality possible.

Shielding
Alpha Wire's employs all of the standard shielding techniques including wrapped or inline foil shield (aluminum/polyester), tinned copper braid, spiral or serve wrapped tinned copper or the SUPRASHIELD® triple laminate foil shield with drain and a 70% coverage tinned braid combination.

In all, Alpha Wire provides manufacturing capabilities that have been carefully configured to fit Alpha's business model of quality brand and the finest service in the industry. Call Alpha Wire today for world class manufacturing technology designed to suit your special requirements.
