All international cordage is <HAR> (Harmonized), which is measured in terms of square millimeters of the cross section of the conductors. North American cordage is sized in accordance with the AWG. Therefore, Harmonized cordage which can be used internationally, can only be produced in a European country approved by an organization called CENELEC.

Cenelec is the main organization of all international approval agencies which enforces the agreement between all international agencies to use one and the same cordage. Each Alpha cord is individually tested for Ground, line and neutral continuity as well as other manufacturing and installation test procedures.
